Dear runners!
Even though we fought and fought and fought, all this fighting did not bring us victory over this virus or the actions of the NIJZ (National Institute for Health). We have tried, until the very end, to carry out this year's event, taking into account all the measures that were a condition for obtaining a permit. Even more, we’ve added a number of new ones to protect both the runners as well as the organisers and all personnel involved in our marathon. It is difficult to say whether this is a defeat or a victory for us. Opinions are divided. But what we can say with certainty, the SARS-CoV-2 virus won this battle.
Unfortunately, the second wave of the virus infections with its growing number of people infected with the virus, coincided with our standard timetable for the Ljubljana Marathon and prevented us from carrying out the event safely. We have been hesitating for a long time with what to do and what decisions to make in order to carry out the Marathon in Ljubljana in the interest of enthusiastic runners and running events in general. I believe that both the organising committee and the implementation team did everything to run this year's Marathon even under impossible conditions and measures, but at the end, having exhausted all the possibilities, we came to a mutual understanding and conclusion, due to this unpredictable situation, to cancel the Marathon in Ljubljana.
We inform all registered runners:
