On the first day of the NLB 29th Ljubljana Marathon, 8,874 children and youth took part – from the youngest participants in the Vita Kids Run to high school students in the Sensodyne School Run. On Sunday, the marathon program continues at 8:00 a.m. with the Garmin 10 km run, and at 9:00 a.m., the streets of Ljubljana will be taken over by runners in the Heineken 0.0 Marathon and the Generali ZAME Half Marathon.
The running festival in Ljubljana was opened by the youngest, with 1,781 of the youngest runners at the Vita Kids Run. A total of 7,003 children took part in the Sensodyne School Run; 3612 children took part in the runs for students from 1st to 5th grade, 2489 in the school runs from 6th to 9th grade, and 847 high school students. The inclusive run, which received enthusiastic applause, had a total of 145 participants at the start.
A special moment of the day was the presentation of a donation collected from the runners' contributions when registering for the 29th NLB Ljubljana Marathon. Part of the donation went to Botrstvo v Slovenije, which this year celebrates 15 years of operation and is intended for children and adolescents from families in need from all over Slovenia.
On Sunday, at 8:00 am, the Garmin run 10 km will start at the Ajdovščina square. An hour later, the Heineken 0.0 Marathon and the Half Marathon Generali ZAME will start at the same location. Runners and volunteers at the 29th NLB Ljubljana Marathon can use LPP for free tomorrow. Circular rides are also organized from the P+R parking lots with special lines for the NLB 29th Ljubljana Marathon, and many will also arrive at the venue by train tomorrow, as Slovenian Railways has organized free transportation for runners.
