11. 10. 2023

Major sporting events are an extraordinary emotional story, motivation for the future and an experience that preserves a beautiful memory. We take a responsible approach to the organization, participation and visit to the Volkswagen Ljubljana Marathon. Read the green guidelines and help us preserve the beauty of Slovenia for future generations.

  • Walk to the venue of the Volkswagen Ljubljana Marathon, ride a bicycle, use public transport or share transport with friends.
  • LPP public bus transport is free - let yourself be driven. All runners have free transport on the day of the marathon.
  • Take part in free charity running events to support the Golden Ribbon.
  • Park your vehicle in the recommended parking lots, P+R, and take the LPP buses to the venue.
  • Use water from drinking fountains, at water stations in such a way that you drink and throw the pot in the trash, fill your bottle or drink from the palm of the hydrant. The water is drinkable.
  • Use biodegradable bottles if you will throw them in the trash during the event.
  • Do not throw waste, wrappers, into the nature, but into the trash cans at the reinforcement stations.
  • Take as much refreshment as you need.
  • Use public toilets, portable toilet cabins, do not dispose of your liquids in nature.
  • Follow the instructions of the directors and security staff, for the event to run smoothly.
  • While wandering around Ljubljana / Slovenia, use public transport, explore on foot or by bike.
  • The water is clean and drinkable everywhere in Slovenia. We recommend using a refillable bottle, avoid buying bottles.
  • After sports, choose a short shower instead of a bath and close the faucet while brushing your teeth.
  • Separate waste and dispose of it in designated places.
  • Use cloth bags, refill the bottle several times, order drinks without a straw.
  • Save energy, refuse to change towels and clean the room, turn off lights and air conditioning when you don't need them.
  • Taste the richness of Slovenian cuisine and support local farmers by choosing typical Slovenian dishes made from seasonal local ingredients.
  • Buy local. Support local artisans and artists. Choose handmade souvenirs instead of mass-produced ones.
  • Avoid over-visited tourist spots. Rather discover the hidden corners of less visited destinations and enjoy authentic experiences.
  • Encourage the responsible behavior of other passengers. Encourage environmentally friendly behavior.
  • Inform us about the shortcomings of your green experiences in Slovenia. We will be happy to listen.
  • Open your heart to green habits. Help us spread the green thought.
  • Invite your friends to come along the track and encourage all the competitors.
