Slovenia's water wealth

8. 7. 2024

At the refreshment stations and water stations of the NLB Ljubljana Marathon, you drink water from the public network, which is drinkable and healthy.

Slovenia is one of the most water-rich European countries in Europe and it also boasts potable water of incredible quality. They say that pouring clean water from a tap is a true sign of prestige nowadays. Slovenia offers it in abundance at every step! Both Slovenians and experts in the healing effects of mineral water have known about and enjoyed the popular local mineral waters for centuries, and these can be tasted at their very source if you visit the places from which they hail. Drinking water with special properties and effects is also available in other places in Slovenia – at sources which have their own history.

Slovenia is one of the smallest countries in Europe, but in terms of water resources it is among the richest.

Its water quality ranks at the very top of the developed countries.

The total length of surface watercourses in Slovenia is about 27,000 kilometres.

Many Slovenian towns have drinking fountains to quench your thirst. In the capital city of Ljubljana alone there are no less than 30 urban drinking fountains available in the warmer months.
